About

Hi! I’m Rhea Morais. Welcome to Art of Life Psychotherapy.

I practice therapy because it’s a process I truly believe in. Having experienced my own traumas and struggles in life, I’ve been “on the other side of the room” as a client in therapy myself for a number of years and have experienced just how powerfully transformative it can be. This work is deeply meaningful to me because I want others to be able to experience what it’s like to heal and change. I care about each of my clients and feel honored to be able to walk alongside them on their healing journeys.

My hope for all my clients is that they leave therapy feeling better equipped to handle whatever life throws at them and a greater sense of connection to their internal and external worlds.

How I work:

I provide relational depth-oriented psychotherapy primarily for young adults who have experienced trauma. My approach draws from multiple therapeutic frameworks including existential-humanist, gestalt, psychodynamic, and somatic therapies. What this means in practice is that I take the time to get to know and understand each client as a complex individual and tailor my approach based on each person’s needs and therapeutic goals. I believe therapy is most effective when a strong therapeutic alliance exists between therapist and client, so I prioritize building a foundation of trust and safety during sessions. This allows us to explore difficult topics together from a place of openness and curiosity. I respect the fact that it takes courage and vulnerability to be able to confront emotional pain, and will do my best to create an environment where this is possible and welcome.

Once trust and safety are established, I work collaboratively with you to explore what feels most important to focus each session on. I will listen to your story with empathy and help guide your awareness to emotions occurring somatically in the present moment. My approach primarily focuses on addressing the root causes of your emotional distress, and may include exploration of early life circumstances and past traumas that continue to affect the present. I will offer alternative perspectives to limiting self-beliefs, bring attention to recurring themes and patterns, help facilitate the exploration of what is meaningful to you, and help empower you to make the changes that you want to make in life.
